# DAOs And Governance
DAOs is a community-governed on-chain organization
A Decentralized Autonomous Organization (DAO) is an organization governed by the community that operates collectively
DAOs allow us to work with folks around the globe as a collective group that makes decisions by proposing and voting on decisions without relying on a centralized authority to manage the funds or operations, where it's blockchain-based rules are baked into the code to define how the organization works and how funds are spent.
DAOs have built-in treasuries that no one has the authority to access without the approval of the group. Decisions are governed by proposals and voting to ensure everyone in the organization has a voice, and everything happens transparently onchain, automatically authorized when votes pass.
